Nilgiris Mountain Rail museum commissioned at Mettupalayam train station , near Ooty . A number of the older locomotives and coaches used by Nilgiris Mountain rail were displayed at the Rail Museum , which unveiled today at the Mettupalayam railway station.

Established by Salem Division of Southern Railway , the Museum includes photos and also artefacts of the Nilgiris Mountain Rail,working on Mettupalayam-Coonoor-Udhgamandalam phase , as well as received Heritage Reputation,a few decade ago

On show is the very first locomotive,which dragged the train in 1899 and created by Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works,Zurich,was also showcased
